Good morning it’s Saturday in my world. We are picking it up from the last post where I ended it just as I was settling in to a crisp fluffy king sized bed void of all color, remnants of errant laundry or crumbs left by small children, with crashing waves in the background that didn’t come from an app or alarm clock.

Regardless of my bliss I still tossed and turned just a wee bit. In-room service delivered  a fresh pot of coffee and a thick bowl of oatmeal around daybreak. Swaddled in a thick hotel robe, I grabbed both and settled in on a balcony chair to watch the early wave riders. Soothe my soul.

8 o’clock and time to get dressed.  I’m going to spare you the agonizing details of choosing what to wear, lets just say that it would behoove you to wear something you ACTUALLY feel good in when you are speaking in public and let’s just leave it at that. We can talk about the need for sleeve Spanx another day. 😀  I did love one thing that morning, my glasses pens. I have to give my daughter Ava credit, she suggested I buy the nerdy glasses pens during a recent trip t0 bedazzled hell, aka Justice.  I replaced the hang tag with my mini MOO business cards and viola, a fitting self promotion.

I made my way downstairs passed the patio breakfast, the smell of fresh croissants and coffee mixed with the ocean air in a perfect blend.  The workshop room was beeeeeeautiful. My sister and I were commenting on how much the Ritz Carlton has changed. No longer do they hang stuffy heavy curtains with gigantic crystal chandeliers, instead wispy shades diffuse those same chandeliers as they weave the colors of the coastline throughout the ballrooms. Each spot complete with paper, pen, water glass and a chocolate dipped peppermint stick. We added a candle and a bag of inspirational Yogi Tea.

9 o’clock, cut to self introductions and with that Tracey and I were off and running. I’ve never had an hour fly by so quickly.  I felt like I spoke in one long run on sentence! I really get excited when I get to go on and on about something so fascinating, like the brain. I could go on and on about the frontal cortex and how it acts as a gatekeeper inhibiting your actions. Look to children who aren’t powerless over an ego or gatekeeper and watch the creativity flow. Its a beautiful thing, we are all born creative, we learn to become uncreative.

I’m going to break down the workshop in little bite sizes and share it with you on the blog over the next month.  I wouldn’t be surprised if Tracey and I went on to talk about this again. I really love that we bring two very distinct views on the subject of Creativity, my big takeaway from Tracey was to save a little bit of your creative joy for yourself. I think that is so key. I think the case of oversharing or feeling compelled to broadcast redirects the energy away. I could use a little more practice in that area.  Tracey is going on to teach more about that process at the Creative Joy Retreat this fall. I think what I love best was some of discussions that happned after the workshop. I saw some great tweets followed by a couple cool shout outs from winners of our workshop giveaways on Instagram.

With the workshop under my belt, I had the rest of the day to spend some quality sister bonding time. Beach walks, mojitos by noon and swordfish tacos with a side of ocean waves beneath us. All things that relax, refresh and renew me.

Had a hard time, as we all do, when we leave these events. Hopefully you leave with new connections or for the more season veteran  a renewed sense of purpose or vision and if you sat in on our workshop, a few new tools to get the creativity flowing (Tracey and I certainly hope so!). For me it was like taking baby steps back into world where blogging meets opportunity. That’s what Mom 2.0 Summit does best. Its going to take some time to reorient myself and figure out where do I go from here but I know if I keep doing the work, it will all fall into place.

I just needed a little shove out of the ol’ comfort nest.
